The show comprises 20 ink-jet prints on fine art paper, ranging in size up to 17 by 36 inches. Val Schaffner and his wife Min-Myn were co-owners of the Nabi Gallery, which operated in Sag Harbor from 1996 to 2002 and in New York City from 2003 until this year. Author of three books of fiction and essays, he has long been fascinated with photography as well, apprenticing in a Manhattan studio at the age of 15 and taking countless photos in the years since--especially during annual trips to South Korea to visit Min-Myn's family.

Most of the images in Temple and Sky were taken digitally in the summer of 2010, in Seoul and in the mountainous countryside south of the capital.  Some were shot earlier on film and scanned.
